Biography
Eliza Petkova (1983) is a German screenwriter and director of Bulgarian origin. She graduated in philosophy and Japanese at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, then continued as an independent filmmaker. She has made several documentaries and short films, of which we will mention: Welcome Home (Willkommen Zuhause, 2011), My Son (Mein Sohn, 2013), and Absent (Abwesend, 2014), which captivated audiences at the Cannes Film Festival. She made her debut with the feature drama Zhaleika (2015).
