Biography

Lara Izagirre graduated in Audiovisual Communication at the UPV / EHU in 2007. After finishing her degree, she specialized in film directing by taking the 1-Year Filmmaking Program at NYFA. Upon her return to the Basque Country, she created the Gariza Films production company. Between 2010 and 2014 she wrote and directed five short films: Bicycle Poem (2010), Kea (2012), Next Stop: Greenland (2012), Sormenaren Bide Ezkutuak (2013) and Larroxa (2013). In 2015, she premiered her first fiction feature Un otoño sin Berlín at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. The following year, the leading role, Irene Escolar, won the Goya for best newcomer actor. Since 2016, she begins her work as a producer at Gariza Films. She has co-produced the following feature films: Errementari (2017), Vitoria, March 3 (2018), Muga deitzen da pausoa (2018), Fabricando mujeres (2018) and Una Ventana al mar (2020 ); as well as two short films: Bayandalai: Lord of the Taiga (2018) and Ya no duermo (2020).
