Biography

After studying literature in Japan, LEE returned to Korea in 1951 and played a part in literary criticism and poetry. In 1957, he entered the film industry with the script for Don't Misunderstand. In 1959, he made his directorial debut with Terms of Happinessand opened up a new chapter in Korean comedy about the lives of working class people. His representative films include A Petty Middle Manager(1961), A Salaried Man(1962), The Apron(1964), and The Door of the Body(1965).
