Biography

In 2015 he made his film debut with the documentary feature Tchindas, released in the DOC. España section of the Valladolid Festival, broadcast by PBS (United States) and 13 times awarded at film festivals. The film, co-directed with Pablo García Pérez de Lara, was nominated for the Nigerian AMAA Awards, the Oscars of African cinema. In 2018 Serena co-directed the documentary Peixos d’aigua dolça (en aigua salada), awarded as Best Film at the Fecidiscovi Festival and distinguished with the Zapping Prize and the 2019 Concha Campoy Award granted by Spain’s Television Academy. He has worked as a reporter for TV networks Arte, CBC Canada, Televisión Española, Televisión de Cataluña and Betevé. He has published three books, among them La vuelta de los 25 (2011), which has been translated into five languages including Chinese and Korean.
