Ann Wingate produced The Special Relationship, the last feature in screenwriter Peter Morgan's trilogy about British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Directed by Richard Loncraine, the 2010 telefilm starred Michael Sheen, reprising his role as PM Blair, opposite Dennis Quaid as President Bill Clinton.
She produced Into the Storm, directed by Thaddeus O'Sullivan from Hugh Whitemore's script. The 2009 telefilm garnered 14 Emmy Award nominations, with Ms. Wingate sharing in the one for Outstanding Made for Television Movie; Brendan Gleeson won the Emmy Award for his portrayal of Winston Churchill, and Howard Goodall received an Emmy for his original score.
She was earlier an Emmy Award nominee for her 2003 telefilm My House in Umbria, directed by Richard Loncraine and starring Emmy Award winner Maggie Smith. The feature was nominated for 9 Emmy and 2 Golden Globe Awards overall, and Ms. Wingate shared the Producers Guild of America Award for Television Producer of the Year in Longform (the Guild's top telefilm prize).
Her theatrical feature work includes co-producing several notable films: Merchant Ivory's celebrated Howards End, starring Academy Award winner Emma Thompson; The Portrait of a Lady, which was nominated for 2 Oscars; and Michael Hoffman's all-star A Midsummer Night's Dream. She produced Jenny Wilkes' Making Waves, which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Short Film (Live Action).
Ms. Wingate began her career producing commercials, documentaries, and corporate films, before segueing into work as production manager. In the latter capacity, she worked on a string of critically acclaimed films including Merchant Ivory's A Room with a View; Mike Newell's The Good Father; Malcolm Mowbray's A Private Function;and Stephen Frears' Prick Up Your Ears.
She was developing, with her fellow The American producer Jill Green and Rainmark Films, Miss Garnet's Angel, an adaptation of Salley Vickers' best-selling novel of the same name; the modern-day mystery is set in Venice, Italy.
