Biography

After directing several short films, in 2007 he made his feature debut with Under the Stars, which won the Silver Biznaga at the Malaga Festival and two Goya awards. In 2016 he directed The Winds of Lent, the first film adaptation of the emblematic novels by Leonardo Padura, and a year later, its continuation, the series Four Seasons in Havana, Platinum Ibero-American Film Award. In 2018 he directed the Goya-nominated documentary Saura(s). In addition to his experience in film, he has directed TV series like Hispania, Marco or Patria, and also teaches courses in Film Directing at the universities of Washington and Oregon.
