Biography

Miroslav Balajka (1950-2009) was a screenwriter and director who graduated from directing at FAMU. He debuted with the acclaimed feature-length film The Inseparable Five (Pětka s hvězdičkou, 1985), then directed the drama Rules of the Circle (Pravidla kruhu, 1987) and the comedy When You Ain't Got Nothing (Ani smrt nebere, 1995). His TV work, which he was mostly engaged in, includes Clothes Make the Corpse (Šaty dělají mrtvolu, 1995) and Wait Until I Turn the Light Off (Počkej, až zhasnu, 2002), the fairy-tale Malvina (2003) and the commercially successful film series The Green Seven Ranch (Ranč U Zelené sedmy, 1996, 2000, 2004) and The School We Love and Hate (Škola Na Výsluní, 2007).
