Biography

Oldřich Lipský (1924 - 1986) was a screenwriter and director. He left the Theatre of Satire (which he co-founded) for the Barrandov studios. Enchanted by the circus, the made his debut with the film The Circus Will Be (Cirkus bude!, 1954), which he followed with the films Six Bears and a Clown (Šest medvědů s Cibulkou, 1972) and in Circus in the Circus (Cirkus v cirkuse, 1975). He further added his comedic talent to the film parodies Lemonade Joe (Limonádový Joe, 1964) and Four Murders Are Enough, Darling (Čtyři vraždy stačí, drahoušku, 1970), the comedy Marecek, Pass Me the Pen! (Marečku, podejte mi pero! 1976) and the fairytale Three Veterans (Tři veteráni, 1983).
