Biography
Eugène Green (b. 1947, New York City) is a French filmmaker, dramatist and author. Since 1969 he has been living in Paris, and there he studied literature and art history. He is a specialist in Baroque theatre and has instructed many actors in the art of Baroque expression and declamation.
His films are regularly screened and applauded at international film festivals. Green gave his debut in 2001 with Toutes les nuits, which won the Prix Louis Delluc as Best First Film. This was followed by Le monde vivant, screened during Directors' Fortnight at Cannes in 2003 and later at festivals in London and Lisbon.
His next three films Le pont des arts (2004), La religieuse portugaise (2009) and La sapienza (2014) were presented at Locarno. His latest offering Le fils de Joseph was included this year in Berlin's Forum. His filmography also contains the documentary Faire la parole (2015).
