Biography

Georges Gachot left Paris at eighteen to train as an engineer and study musicology in Zurich. His passion for music has had a decisive influence on his work as a film director. He made portraits of composers and performers for television. Since 1996, he has been making his own films, including Martha Argerich, conversation nocturne (2003). His interest in Cambodia gave rise to several documentaries about the charities of pediatrician and cellist Beat Richner. In Maria Bethania: Music Is Perfume (2005), Georges Gachot explores a new music style.
