Biography
Born in New York in 1928. In his youth, this native of the Bronx served in the United Stated Navy and forged a reputation for himself as a boxer. In the mid 50´s he moved to Los Angeles, where he was noticed by producer/director Roger Corman. Under his command, he played innumerable characters, either supporting roles or memorable starring roles like A Bucket of Blood (1959) or The Little Shop of Horrors (1960).
After becoming a charismatic, cult presence, he was also one of Joe Dante’s pet actors – The Howling (1981), Gremlins (1984)... –, and he has appeared in films like Terminator (James Cameron, 1984), After Hours (Martin Scorsese, 1985) and Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight (Ernest Dickerson, 1995). His life has been captured in the documentary That Guy Dick Miller (Elijah Drenner, 2014).
