Biography
Born in Sri Lanka in 1977, Vimukthi Jayasundara studied in France, at Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains. His first feature film, The Forsaken Land, won the Caméra d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2005, while Mushrooms screened at the Directors’ Fortnight in 2011. In 2009, he made Between Two Worlds, which was selected in the international competition at Venice International Film Festival, and he subsequently directed Dark in the White Light (2015), which was screened in Locarno.
