Biography
Born in 1919 in Berlin, Gerd Oswald is the son of the director and producer Richard Oswald whom he works for as an assistant after the family fled Nazi Germany for the USA. He makes his directorial debut with A Kiss Before Dying (1956), one of the first movies released in CinemaScope. In the following years, Oswald signs genre films such as Crime of Passion (1957). In 1959, Oswald temporarily returns to Europe to shoot The Day It Rained and Brainwashed (1960), an adaptation of Stefan Zweig's The Royal Game. Back in the USA, Oswald makes several documentaries and directed TV series episodes such as Star Trek (1966-1967).
