Biography
Born in Shanghai in 1977, Ying Liang studied directing at the Meishi Film Academy of Chongqing University. In 2005 he directed Taking Father Home, which won the FIPRESCI/NETPAC award in Singapore. He then went on to make The Other Half (2006), Good Cats (2008) and the short film Condolences (2009), which received the Ammodo Tiger Short Award in Rotterdam. His 2012 film When Night Falls was selected for the Locarno Festival and won the Pardo for Best Director.
