Biography

David Michôd (b.1972, Sydney) is a successful Australian director, screenwriter, producer, and actor, whose breakthrough film Animal Kingdom (2010) won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, followed by several other awards, including an Oscar nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role. Michôd also attended the Sundance festival as co-scriptwriter of the film Hesher (dir. Spencer Susser, 2010) and he co-directed the award-winning documentary film Solo (2009)). His short films have been screened at festivals from Berlin to Venice, and prestigious festivals have also shown interest in his second feature film, The Rover, which had its premiere at Cannes. His next project, an adaptation of Michael Hastings's bestseller The Operators, is set to star Brad Pitt.
