Biography
Audiences in several different countries have taken note of Rhys Darby (Angus)'s comedic talents in several different mediums.
An ex-soldier in his native New Zealand's army and a veteran of 10 years as a stand-up comedian, Mr. Darby's stand-up act finds him mixing and matching sound effects, characterizations and askew observations. He has practiced his unique brand of humor in places as far-flung as Iceland and the Falkland Islands, and in showcases from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to Montreal's Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. The release of his stand-up concert DVD, Rhys Darby Live: Imagine That!, which was filmed live in Los Angeles in 2008, is one of his proudest achievements.
Mr. Darby made a memorable film debut opposite Jim Carrey in Peyton Reed's hit comedy Yes Man.
He continues to star as band manager Murray Hewitt on the popular cable series Flight of the Conchords, after having originated the role on the BBC radio show of the same name.
