Born in Tehran in 1978, Massy Tadjedin is an Iranian-American filmmaker. She grew up in Orange County, California, and studied English literature at Harvard University. In 2002, she wrote and produced Leo, a drama directed by Mehdi Norowzian, featuring Joseph Fiennes, Elisabeth Shue and Justin Chambers. In 2005, she won acclaim for the screenplay of The Jacket, a fantasy thriller directed by John Maybury and featuring Adrien Brody, Keira Knightley and Kris Kristofferson. The film was nominated for a Saturn Award as Best Science Fiction Film in 2006. Since then she has written, directed and produced Last Night, and was also working on two films, Long Lost and Wednesday.
