Tempestt Bledsoe has enjoyed success in the entertainment business since the age of 4. She began her career singing jingles for radio and television commercials in her hometown of Chicago.
At age 10, she was cast as Vanessa Huxtable on the NBC series The Cosby Show. The family comedy show broke new ground in television and is widely regarded as one of the greatest programs in the medium's history. Its dozens of honors include the Peabody Award.
As a role model for young people, Ms. Bledsoe has served as National Spokesperson for D.A.R.E., and The President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. While working on The Cosby Show, academics were always foremost in her pursuits, and she was chosen as a finalist in the National Achievement Scholarship Program for Outstanding Negro Students. She later enrolled at NYU's prestigious Stern School of Business, and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Finance.
After making her off-Broadway stage debut in From the Mississippi Delta, she hosted her own nationally syndicated talk show Tempestt. Her telefilm credits include Kris Isacsson's Husband for Hire and David Jackson's The Wishing Well; and her series guest appearances include arcs on The Practice and South of Nowhere. Prior to ParaNorman, her voiceover work included a regular role on the animated series The Replacements.
For the first time since The Cosby Show, Ms. Bledsoe was again starring for NBC in a comedy series: Guys with Kids begins airing in the latter part of 2012.
