Rocío Mesa is a filmmaker, producer and programmer. She focusses on independent and experimental cinemas, with films that have shown at festivals including the SEFF, BAFICI, Cámara Lúcida and L'Alternativa. She is also the artistic director at LA OLA - Independent films from Spain, an organisation dedicated to promoting innovative Spanish films in North America. She has worked as programmer for bodies including the LA Film Festival and Art House Theater Day. With her production company My Deer Films she has produced feature films including Mbah Jhiwo. Alma anciana (2020), by Álvaro Gurrea, premiered in the Forum section of the Berlinale in 2021. In 2013 she directed her first feature film, Orensanz. Secaderos is her second.
