Biography

Cosmina Stratan studied acting at the National University of Theatre and Cinema in Bucharest. Her first leading role was Voichita in Beyond the Hills, directed by Cristian Mungiu, which won Best Script and Best Actress at Cannes Film Festival in 2012. She was selected as Shooting Star at the Berlin International Film Festival two years after that. She represented Beyond the Hills at several film festivals like: Sarajevo Film Festival, Viennalle Film Festival, Ghent Film Festival, Morelia International Film Festival, Romanian Film Festival in London, Romanian Film Festival in New York, REkonstruktion Film Festival in Berlin, Around the world in 14 movies, Berlin. Stratan played also the supporting role, Dorina in the HBO tv series, Shall We Kiss, directed by Constantin Popescu in 2013. Apart from that, she acted in several shorts like: Retur, directed by Emanuel Pîrvu, 2013, I Love You Since Tomorrow, directed by Călin Ilie (2010), The Two of Us, directed by Cătălina Bălan (2010), Searching, directed by Andrei Boruzescu (2011). She plays in several theatres in Bucharest working with directors like Andrei Serban, Neil Labute and Gelu Colceag.
