Biography
Mania Akbari, born in 1974, is an internationally acclaimed Iranian filmmaker, actor and an artist. In her works she often deals with female issues, sexual identity, marriage and lesbianism, and her visual styles is considered to be very modern and avant-garde-like. Due to this, as well as to her unwillingness to abide cencorship, her works have provoked controversial reactions in Iran.
