Biography

After studying Aeronautical Engineering and practicing this profession for several years in the Netherlands, in 1994 he entered the world of cinema as a producer with the feature film The Curfew, by Rashid Masharawi. Four years later he directed his first feature film, The 14th Chick, from a script by Arnon Grunberg. His second fiction feature film was Rana’ s Wedding, selected at the Cannes Critics’ Week. With his third film, Paradise Now (2005), he won the Golden Globe and was nominated for an Oscar. In 2011 he shot his fourth film in English, The Courier, and with Omar he participated in 2013 in the Valladolid Festival and received another Oscar nomination. His filmography also includes feature films like Idol (2015) and The Mountain Between Us (2017).
