Biography

Armando began his career starring in Amat Escalante’s Heli, which was Official Competition at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. He was nominated for an Ariel Award as Best Actor and won a Silver Goddess from the Mexican Film Journalists Association (PECIME). In 2019, he returned to the Cannes Film Festival with Our Mothers, which won the Caméra d’or. His another leading role was in the Mexican American production I Carry You with Me, by Heidi Ewing, which premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and for which he earned his second Ariel nomination. On television, he worked under the direction of Juan José Campanella in Los Enviados, and Rolland Joffé in Texas Rising, both Oscar winners. He has been a beneficiary of the FONCA Stage Creators Program and was selected by Berlinale Talents and Guadalajara Talents. Since 2020, he has been teaching acting in Front of the Camera at Pohualizcalli School of Community Cinema of Iztapalapa and at Sundland Acting Conservatory.
