Biography
Léa Pool is a Swiss-Canadian filmmaker who has also taught film at UQAM. Her 1986 film Anne Trister screened at the 36th Berlin International Film Festival. Her 1999 film Emporte-moi screened at the 49th Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the Special Prize of the Ecumenical Jury. Her film À corps perdu (1988) was selected for official competition in the Venice Film Festival and her film Mouvements du désir (1994) screened at the Sundance Film Festival. She has been nominated three times for the Genie Award for Best Achievement in Direction for her films La Femme de l'hôtel (1984), Mouvements du désir (1994), and Emporte-moi (1999). In 2006 she was awarded the Prix Albert-Tessier. In 2011, Pool completed the National Film Board of Canada documentary film Pink Ribbons, Inc., which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
