Biography

Berlin-based cinematographer Martin Ruhe collaborated with The American director Anton Corbijn on Coldplay's music video "Talk;" the longform U2 video Linear; and the feature film Control. The latter earned Mr. Ruhe Best Cinematography honors at the 2007 Auteur Film Festival, as well as a Camerimage Golden Frog nomination and a Best Technical Achievement nomination from the British Independent Film Awards.
His other films include Daniel Barber's Harry Brown, starring Michael Caine, and The Countess, starring its writer/director Julie Delpy. In 2007, Variety named Mr. Ruhe one of its "10 Cinematographers to Watch."
He also shoots commercials around the world for clients including for Audi, Ikea, and Comcast. Since 2000, his commercials and music videos work has to date earned him 26 industry awards, including a Bronze Clio Award; a London International Advertising Award (LIAA); and two Cannes Gold Lion Awards.
Among the many music videos that Mr. Ruhe has filmed are clips for "Demo" and "Zum Meer," both songs from The American composer Herbert Grönemeyer's album "Mensch," one of the best-selling German-language records of all time. Anton Corbijn helmed the "Zum Meer" clip, marking Mr. Ruhe's first collaboration with the director.
