The main character of this film reminiscent of political writing is Laci, the young and ambitious factory worker. He lives with his brother's family. After an unsuccessful attempt to escape from his native country and the prison sentence which follows it he gets employed by Pray, the progressive thinker, at a newly established computer centre. It is here that Laci learns to know Anna, the new-leftist university student, daughter of the general manager. Tóth, although he does not favour their relationship, does not oppose it either. Pray's and Laci's project to modernise factory-work violates the interest of many. The manager symphatises with the innovators, but he is in the hands of a conservative group. Pray is sacked. Laci unmasks the anomalies in the factory in an unauthorised television report. Even he is dismissed. Anna leaves home, and the two of them are given a room in Feri's house which is halfway finished. After her comfortable home, Anna cannot get accustomed to the harsh circumstances. Laci is trying to make money by private pig-breeding. By the time he receives his first earnings, Anna is abducted by her family. Laci searches for her, but in vain. On the next day, with a hangover, he runs into Pray again.
