Out of the Darkness

We follow the factory owner Karl Skov who tries to balance a challenged economy, a divided family and the relationship with the German occupation forces. The eldest son Aksel is becoming extremely active in the resistance movement, which is a dirty and bloody battle. The action takes place from 1943 until the end of World War II. The growing opposition to the occupation and the increased brutality of the Germans have fatal consequences for the family. With Out of the Darkness, Anders Refn completes an extensive art work and asks questions about who remains as winners and losers after the war. (The Norwegian International Film Festival)
