Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story

I swear on the holy relics of David Hasselhoff that if more work had been done on the script, i.e. if a lot of those promising scenes had been more wittily resolved, I would have thrown in the fourth star. It wasn't far from it, mainly thanks to a few biting glimpses of the cult of the body that rules the States, a couple of funny cameos (Lance Armstrong rulez!), and the quintessential douchebag Ben Stiller. I just don't understand what others find so interesting about Vince Vaughn's lackluster acting. (29/10/2005)

If you have seen at least one of the two cult movies Zoolander or Starsky and Hutch, then there is no need for you to continue reading, because either these movies had you laughing your head off and so you know what to expect, or you were thoroughly disgusted and so not even wild horses could drag you away to see this. The humor is similar, far from being for everybody, but if you are on the same wavelength as the creators, this will have you rolling in the aisles again. (13/05/2022)

A dodgeball tournament? A competition between competing gyms? How can you make a movie about that? You can and it’s downright entertaining. Vaughn and Stiller squeeze all they can out of this original idea and believe me, there is a lot to squeeze. I haven’t laughed like this for a long time. (25/12/2006)

An enjoyable and appropriately wacky comedy with the always spot on Ben Stiller, a number of unexpected moments and a generous helping of original humour, which may not suit everyone, but what do I care when I had such a good time. (14/03/2015)

If more comedies like this were made, I wouldn't be angry at all. Dodgeball is fun in itself, but when you manage to get a bunch of great actors who don't hesitate to make themselves look like morons while keeping the humour within intelligent limits, it turns mere fun into a great experience. When I saw the film years ago in the movie theater, it made a much greater impression on me than it does now. There are still great scenes and some excellent characters, but it didn't captivate me as much as it did back then. So, in the end, just a slight above-average because the film doesn't deserve an average rating. However, Vince Vaughn already shows here how unremarkable he is. (06/04/2017)

A slightly above-average movie, in which you get to enjoy decent acting performances and the appearance of Chuck Norris. By the way, it's interesting to see how self-assured Lance Armstrong is when giving inspirational life advice (the guy simply has no shame...). (14/06/2013)
