English Older Japanese films definitely have something going for them, and it doesn't have to be something made by Akira Kurosawa. She and He is an example of this. There are excellent civil acting performances, and a slow unfolding of the plot, and yet you feel emotions throughout, even if it's just anticipation of how the relationships will develop. ()
