A rousing 1982 actioner about the quest to recover a valuable jade antique. The stolen antique has been hidden in the eponymous "House of Traps", a booby trap-laden pagoda from which no one has ever escaped alive. Expect plenty of exotic weaponry, powerful fisticuffs, and above all copious bloodletting as Chang Cheh guides the Venoms through undeniably one of their most popular Shaw Brothers outings! This is a nice older Asian school that shows how crazy the ideas were here and how well they managed to make them happen. The house full of traps is beautifully brutal, but it's not that bloody, just enough to handle. The choreography is simply dance-like, which I like, although it might discourage some people. It's a B-movie that is worth remembering.
