Set in the late ’20s, it follows decadent Bengali zamindar (landlord) Biswambhar Roy (the beloved Chabi Biswas), an otherworldly man who prefers spending time listening to music and dreaming of the past. Somehow Indian cinema did not grow on me, which is quite remarkable in Ray's case because his films are not bad. Perhaps it's the visual aspect, the setting. I don't know. I simply see that it's good, but it hardly affects me. It seems a bit lengthy at times, at least considering that one knows how it will end. Nevertheless, the dance scene really caught my attention.
