Cal Reynolds, a hunted outlaw, after eluding the sheriff and his posse, finds Butch, leader of his gang, making advances to Jennie Lee, a young school teacher, in the local saloon. Seeing that she is not there of her own choice, Cal is forced into an immediate marriage ceremony, though she is already engaged to Sheriff Bentley. Discovering that Jennie is legally his wife, Cal plans to reform, but the members of his gang think he is doublecrossing them when the sheriff and his posse arrive at their hideout. Thus, to prove his loyalty, Cal fights the sheriff and posse and wounds Bentley, but he saves his life, realizing that Jennie loves him. Butch is killed in a duel with Cal, and Jennie then decides that Cal, not Bentley, is her man. (official distributor synopsis)
