The comedy king gives American pop culture and politics the royal treatment in the satiric, penultimate Chaplin film A King in New York. Advertising, movies, TV, rock music, celebrity and more are in Chaplin's comic sights as he portrays a deposed European monarch who becomes a U.S. media sensation. (Artificial Eye)

Charles Chaplin did not lose himself even in the era of sound film, which he perfectly proves with this film. I think he is somewhat underrated, perhaps because he is too political, but still, it is great entertainment that knows how to properly criticize society and its politics of those times. It was amusing and clever, and I liked it. ()
