English Macon Leary, the main character of the film, has learned to navigate through life without emotional involvement because it can only bring disappointment. He relies on certainty and his marriage is routine, although more or less painless. One day, however, a tragedy occurs and his only son dies. His previous certainties collapse, as it turns out that his child was the bond in his relationship with his wife, and Macon suddenly finds himself in middle age alone without a clear life goal. A woman who is looking for a new partner and father for her son tries to pull him out of passivity. But just when it seems like life has taken a new direction, his former partner decides to return, and Macon suddenly has to make a decision, which is a major problem for him considering his value system. The Accidental Tourist is a film about the great influence that inertia has on our lives, which is evident not only in the main character but also in his family. It's quite an enjoyable film with the likable Geena Davis, whom I don't usually care for, but in this case, she did an excellent job in the role of a marriage-seeking hunter. Unfortunately, the film is not very memorable, just like the unremarkable charisma of the main character, so it will likely fade from my memory in a few days. Overall impression: 65%. ()
