English Based on the novel by Marie Doležalová, "Kdo jsi bez viny" (Who Are You Without Guilt), the film combines a trio of themes that have often been reflected upon, but either as complementary themes or reflected upon in completely different ways. Hana Vítová became the most frequent protagonist of the issue of single motherhood in the 1930s. Her impersonation of a young girl often tempted filmmakers to cast her in roles as unfortunate seduced girls. In this film, it is worth noticing the framework narrative, which has never been typical and is quite usual for Czech cinema. If I add to the overall picture the modernly conceived sub-social dramas played by my favorite actors without the slightest hesitation, I cannot be anything but satisfied with Eighteen Years Old. ()
