Plots(1)

Philadelphia detective John Hobbes (Denzel Washington) watches as Edgar Reese (Elias Koteas), the serial killer he helped bring to justice is executed. However, Reese behaves oddly prior to his death, and soon after his execution killings similar to his own crimes start once more. Hobbes begins receiving late-night phone calls from the copycat killer, and follows a trail of clues to another detective, Milano, who killed himself in a remote cabin 30 years ago. Carved on the wall is the name Azazel - translated as demon of the wilderness. With the help of Milano's daughter Gretta (Embeth Davidtz), Hobbes realises that Reese and Milano were both hosts for a killer fallen angel, which now has its sights set on him. (Warner Bros. English A tragically squandered opportunity for a superb mysterious thriller. The premise of an evil being that jumps from one person to another by touch is very interesting in itself (maybe because it reminded me of a film from my childhood), but here it’s unfortunately smothered by the typical horror garb of the 1990s, where every original idea is followed by twenty clichés. Hoblit and Washington show their chops, but the problem is in the script. 4/10 ()

English It’s no surprise that I know absolutely nothing about this film. In the opening credits, the premise makes it look like a weaker version of the movie Seven (which is actually a word of praise for the movie), but that’s only a very weak conjecture formed during the first couple of minutes. What follows is a mixture of all the bad things that the 1990s had to offer in film and what never brought the movies any success. A very forgettable movie. ()
