English The weakest Curtis script I've encountered so far, but still a guarantee of decent and smart entertainment. The original idea is enlivened by a number of pleasant jokes, Newell's relaxed direction and, of course, a host of likeable English actors who are unmissable even in supporting roles. Andie MacDowell may not be the belle of my dreams, but the elegant Grant, the excellent Atkinson and the exuberant Simon Callow made up for it. But hand on heart, Curtis can do much, much better... 70% ()

English Richard Curtis really confirmed to me that he is one of the best screenwriters for romantic comedies. He can write great jokes, but above all, he can write a story that is not so predictable, it is entertaining, and it stands out with great performances by the actors. Mike Newell's direction beautifully suits this film, it is subtle and precise. ()
