Indecent Proposal

Surprisingly, no routine dullness. The first half even surprised me with its decent psychology, and the second half, on the other hand, had a surprisingly impressive and touching happy ending. The only problem with the film is its excessive length. Everything happens too slowly, and when a crucial turning point finally takes place, we can almost prepare ourselves for the finish. The main attraction in this perfectly tuned romantic thriller is the psychologically well-drawn and brilliantly acted character of Robert Redford. Demi Moore is a doll and Woody Harrelson is not convincing. Several scenes are extremely powerful and personal, but the rest is a classic Hollywood fairytale arranged precisely to perfectly appeal to the largest possible number of viewers of all ages. However clichéd and predictable, Indecent Proposal has a relatively strong psychological foundation and a great number of moments that captivate with their natural power and emotional intensity. This is where Adrian Lyne has always excelled - but he needs better scripts. (30/03/2007)
