The Story Of My Son is an early collaboration between directing duo Johnnie To and Wei Chia-hui. In a new take of the Italian screen classic Incompreso, the story centers on the misunderstanding between the father and his two sons, while reflecting the ruthlessness of the Hong Kong loan sharks: Li Tzu-liang (Damian Lau) is newly widowed and leading an impoverished life with two young sons (Huang Kun-hsuan and Cheng Pak-lam). He attempts to make a fortune at the horse-racing track but is debt-laden, while his sons are harassed by debt collectors. More heart-wrenching events begins to unfold. (Intercontinental Video)
