Plots(1)

Despite Kecskemét being a free royal city in the 1600s, the Ottomans and the Labanc are equally taking ransoms. The son of tailor Lestyák, Miska suggests to the helpless city council to send a mission to Buda and ask for Kecskemét to be the headquarters of a bey, thus ensuring immunity from the harassment of the raiders. The city lords accept the advice, what is more, they entrust Miska with the office of chief constable. In Buda however, the beautiful "flower", Cinna, who is in love with Miska, was brought to the young Sultan as a present together with other presents in vain. Although he fancies her at once, they merely get an ornamented robe instead of a bey. The city lords in their despair leave Miska, who abducts Cinna in man's clothes because in the meantime he also fell in love with her. Meanwhile it turns out that the robe has got a miraculous power. Any Turk will humbly surrender to the man, who shows it to them. Miska is forgiven in Kecskemét and is chosen to be a perpetual chief constable. Later the gift brings not only fame, but also great peril to the couple that now fades away in a legend. (official distributor synopsis)
