English Patrick Swayze was a good fit for the role of Allan Quatermain, but I would have expected him to be a bit more of a gritty character. In its portrayal, it's actually a nice romantic movie that occasionally knows how to shoot and occasionally even gets into fights when necessary. The story is unnecessarily long, as it loses tension, but it's watchable. ()

English This is very bad. If an adventure film with a premise where something is always happening is so boring and empty, something is wrong. The filmmakers wanted to take a different path than the ones who made King Solomon's Mines last time (my guilty pleasure with Richard Chamberlain), but they failed miserably. The terribly long film can only attract attention with its African nature, which is also not very memorably recorded. Any National Geographic documentary is 100% better. Even in terms of plot. The star is for Roy Marsden. ()
