Plots(1)

This black comedy takes place in the large Muk family at Christmas time. Our main protagonist, Karel Muk, is a simple guy with simple dreams and a rather streamlined family life. As it says in the script: Karel worked as a cemetery manager for many years and was fond of saying: ‘Only the death is sure' but he never allowed this to influence him personally. There was not much he could be praised for. His brother Robert Muk is a hard-driving enterpreneur and the youngest Pavel Muk still cannot decide if the meaning of life is hidden in protecting the national park forests or in erotic adventures with the secretaries. One day, shortly before Christmas, an unexpected inheritance lands in the lap of the Muk family. This sudden wealth triggers a chain of events which will lead the family members off their tangents. Nothing will be like before and nothing is accidental. They all must reconsider their goals and everything they do will come back at them. (official distributor synopsis)

English A considerably controversial film. On one hand, it has an obviously mishandled script that can be described as nonsense, while on the other hand, it has a decent cast, at least when it comes to main characters, absurd humor that works great in some moments and not at all in others, and interesting dialogues that we can say the same about. It's one of those films that I don't need to see for the second time, and if I did, I would rate it lower. Considering the very specific humor and undeniable complexity of Petr Vachler's soul, whom I wouldn't want to be a psychoanalyst for, it is truly a film only for specific people. Overall impression: 50%. ()

English Inconsistent, weirdly written, sometimes very embarrassing and, unfortunately, plainly unfunny. Čtvrtníček entertains, but there’s not much of him. No, I will not watch it over and over again! ()
