English The 43rd Disney Feature Film The global flop of this is well deserved. Is it that much of a combination of classic animation and CGI that the individual 2D characters only have mechanical CGI limbs, for example? It’s interesting as an experiment but problematic as part of the Disney tradition. I've watched a few documentaries in which the creators explain their efforts to graft various CGI extras onto old sketches from the 50s, which in and of itself doesn't make much sense. Neither does the idea of moving Stevenson's adventure classic into a sci-fi setting. On paper, it may have looked better than the final product. This left Treasure Planet as a passing hybrid from the advent of a new style of animation. It will certainly be more engaging for viewers 100 years from now than it is for today's viewers. ()
