English Heist is a pleasantly nostalgic film. It’s intelligently written and skillfully directed, and Hugh Jackman is excellent in it. But in the age of The Usual Suspects, it’s slightly dull. One great heist (the plane) and a few unsurprising twists aren’t enough. ()

English With any other cast, but especially without Gene Hackman, Heist wouldn't have gotten even those three stars. The story is ordinary, unsurprising, not at all imaginative... But the actors! The interplay of Hackman, DeVito, Lind and Rockwell is amazing, and so I had fun after all, I was even tense a few times (the road check, the plane) and I even laughed during the dialogues like "Don't you want to hear my last words?" - "I just did". It's really a shame about the flawed plot and many dead and boring places.__P.S. Not to forget - I do praise Shapiro's music. ()
