The lives of Futó Sándor and his wife are tainted by Sándor's jealousy. He is suspicious of the impresario, a man who does his best to talk his wife into singing in public as she has a beautiful voice. Sándor feels that the tragedy of his own past might repeat itself in his own life. His father, having killed the man who he thought was her mother's seducer, committed suicide. In order to prevent a murder, Futó shoots himself. He survives the shot, but sustains a serious heart injury and is hospitalized. Again suspicious, he watches how a love between his wife and his doctor develops. He sets up a trap for the lovers. He pretends to be away on a business trip in Budapest, but returns unexpectedly. He finds his wife in the doctor's flat. He is about to use his pistol, but his heart is too weak for such excitement and he drops dead. (official distributor synopsis)
