Szabó Pál, a young engine-driver from the country has one old dream come true. He is to serve on the Pest fast train. Finta János, a drunkard, is the fireman on the midnight fast train. Finta also courts Balogh Anna, the engine-driver's fiancée. The jealous fireman is preparing for a revenge. Drunk, he knocks down his rival. The train is travelling at high speed in the night with no engine-driver attending to his job. Szabó Pál's young nephew, the young railway officer intervenes to prevent a tragic accident from happening. The fireman is dismissed. However, he does not give up the idea of a criminal attempt, this time he decides to blow up the train. His nephew intervenes again, so Anna, his fiancée can eventually meet him at the country railway station. (official distributor synopsis)
