The story of two people who couldn't be more different and yet more perfect for each other, The Legend Of Paul And Paula is truly a legendary romance. Paula (Angelica Domrose) is an unmarried salesclerk with two children who thinks with her heart and wants nothing more than to achieve complete happiness in life. Paul (Winfried Glatzeder) is a conservative mid-level bureaucrat stuck in a loveless marriage who only wants to provide for his family and climb the social ladder. Although they're neighbors, it's not until they meet by accident one evening that they begin to fall in love. Paula attempts to liberate Paul from his complacency with her more free-spirited ways. When personal tragedies and heartache beset them both Paul begins to fully appreciate her love, but it may already be too late. (official distributor synopsis)

English Not only is it an interesting portrayal of the era with all its specific fashion quirks, but it's also a poetically lyrical film, with some scenes distinctly tuned to poeticism, sounding beautiful and oddly strange at the same time. But they do manage to express an interesting time and how relationships between people are formed and fade away. ()
