Personally, I appreciate it twice over for the absurd Protectorate mechanism and for the locations near Horažďovice, where it was filmed for the first time at that time, but apart from a couple of films, it never became a favorite among filmmakers. Anyway, this year we are "celebrating" 70 years since this film was not made and no one has even bothered to make a modern version of it.
