Oh, My Love

It’s really too bad that Oh, My Love is released in the Czech Republic as a solitary film and not as part of Bhansali's collection, i.e., representing a certain kind of Bollywood film. Straight from the Heart prepared me for a rather pronounced culture shock, while Devdas was a somewhat smoother opening to a colorful embrace of opulent splendor in earthy warm colors, only to have the metallic blue Oh, My Love playing out everywhere and nowhere, foreshadowing a new spectacle of a trio of primary colors in Request. I thus recommend watching Oh, My Love as part of the artist's artistic journey, because that's the only way to make his paintings into a complete whole. (07/10/2011)
