Henrik, Nina and Stine are an ordinary family. Henrik is a swimming instructor, Nina a secretary. Their biggest problem is (the) adolescent Stine, who gradually becomes more and more difficult to be around. Upon the school psychologist's request, the authorities remove Stine from her home. She accuses Henrik of something that must be false. However Henrik is placed in custody and experiences the pain of being charged with a crime by his own daughter. Henrik and Nina stick together through the whole process, and he is acquitted. Everything is going to be fine on the evening that Stine returns home. Months have gone by, and Stine is ready to meet her parents and talk it over – without the presence of the authorities. It is time for reconciliation – and explanation.
